Our E-mail Newsletter: "The Weekly Leaf"
Subscribe to the Leaving the Comfort Zone e-mail newsletter "The Weekly Leaf," which we provide when we update our website's lesson plans. Updates, however, are not the only benefit of our weekly e-mail; the newsletter has interesting facts to teach, a piece of acclaimed literature, and occasional discounts on Thompson Publishing Incorporated merchandise. You can find an example of our newsletter below, an explanation of what it contains, and the subscription form. RLS

The Elements in "The Weekly Leaf"
Lesson Plan Update |
The Leaving the Comfort Zone website provides teachers with a lesson plan for their scheduled or sudden absences. We update the scheduled plan monthly and the sudden plan weekly, so our newsletter lets teachers know when we put out new plans, which is a benefit for teachers who do not have time to check the website. We send the update right to your e-mail with a lovely newsletter, so you always know what plan is new. RLS

The Weekly Challenge |
Every week we give Teachers a piece of literature to consider for a lesson, discussion, or extra credit. The works chosen for this column are not in our book, but fit our definition of literature, such as the sculpture above. "The Weekly Challenge" allows Teachers and Students to expand their knowledge of literature and art. Teachers can find suggested questions on the website. RLS

Featured Play of the Week |
Seeing and supporting live plays is an important part of enriching students with the various forms of literature. In order to promote both local and international theaters, we feature a play and its location every week in our newsletter. For more suggestions about plays to see, look at our "Field Trips" and "International Field Trips" page on the "Additional Help" tab. RLS

English Fact of the Week |
To make the newsletters interesting to read, we give teachers a new fact about English every week. The fact can be about anything related to literature or writing, like strange grammar rules, lives of authors, or weird trivia. These facts can be a fun way to start class, or just a way to learn something new everyday. RLS
