An Introduction to "Friendship & Relationships"
The interacitons each individual has with other people consist of many different stages, but the experiences they have together as friends, lovers, or acquaintances, will give them new and different perspectives on how to live life. Within the "Friendship and Relationships" chapter, each piece shows the different circumstances people have when dealing with relationships and how they respond to the individuals they come in contact with. Poems such as "A Double Standard" and "Love and the Bird," give the reader insight in how to recognize healthy and unhealthy relationships, helping them identify the importance of evaluating their interactions with others. "After Twenty Years" details how people can hurt those closest to them, showing the significance of making good decisions around friends and loved ones. "Lord of the Rings: Return of the King" and "The Two Towers," exemplify how even in the worst of times it is important to never betray friends and keep them even closer than enemies. Lastly, "The Prophet on Friendhsip" shows the perfect friendhsip, giving the reader hope that they can survive their teenage years with strong, healthy, and fruitful relationships that will last a lifetime. Each of these pieces gives students the tools essential to generating positive relations with those around them, allowing them to use their writing skills to express their feelings. EDH
