Cana Fitzgerald
Cana Fitzgerald was born on February 5th, 1995 in San Antonio, Texas. She has since moved houses thirteen different times, and moved to Australia in 2004. She moved back to the United States in 2008, and moved to Virginia in the summer of 2009. Spotswood High School is her tenth school, and she has loved being in one place longer than four years. Cana has always hated writing but decided to take Dual Enrollment English 12 to improve her writing skills, and can now proudly say she can write without crying. Cana plans on attending West Texas A&M University in the fall of 2013, where she will further expand her knowledge of horses and study Equine Industry and Business. She would like to thank her family, friends, Mr. Thompson, and God for encouraging her and always being there for her. CJF
Evan Hunsberger
Evan Hunsberger was born on December 17, 1994 in Dayton, Virginia. He moved outside of Harrisonburg when he was three and currently resides there, attending Spotswood High School. Evan’s first writing breakthroughs occurred in middle school when a poem he wrote made him a top finisher in a contest and published in a national poetry and short story book. Evan still writes poetry sometimes, but his main passions are playing percussion and singing, both of which he received honors from his school, district, and stat. Evan is attending James Madison University in the fall, but he has an undecided major. He does know that he will be trying out for the Marching Royal Dukes Drumline in the summer and hopes he will be marching in the fall. Evan thanks his Lord and Savior for the opportunities and talents he has given him, as well as his friends and family for always being there in spite of his mistakes. EDH
Nick Shomo
Nicholas "Nick" Shomo was born on March 4, 1995 and has lived in Keezletown, Virginia his entire life. He is currently enrolled at Spotswood High School and will graduate on June 7th, 2013. He ability to creatively write started at a young age when his imagination was even more vast than it is now. He enjoys taking part in drama productions, choir, and helping out on the family farm. In the near future he will be a member of the James Madison University student body, where he will study Communication Sciences and Disorders in order to become a Speech Pathologist. He would like to thank his family, friends, and God for continuing to be supportive of him throughout his entire life. NAS
Rachel Self
Rachel Self was born on March 13th, 1995 in Abingdon, Virginia. She moved to Grottoes, Virginia when she was three and currently resides there, attending Spotswood High School. Her writing got an early recognition in Elementary School, where her teacher Mr. Gaskins allowed her to read stories she wrote about morality to his wife’s third grade class. She grew to have a heavy interest in musicals, drama, and literature. Her plans for college are to attend Blue Ridge Community College after High School and transfer to James Madison University, with a major in Nursing Science and minor in Business Management. She would like to thank her family, friends, and the Lord for giving them all to her. RLS
